Why have a hen weekend in Manchester?

With a reputation for shopping extravaganzas and one of the greatest nightlife scenes in the country, it's unsurprising to learn that Manchester hen do's have been on the rise over the last few years.

For the foodie hen groups, you have hundreds of restaurants to choose your breakfast, brunch and dinners from. You're going to need to keep your energy levels up for your high octane weekend, so make sure you take the time to indulge in Manchester's best restaurants. For a chic Manchester hen weekend experience, shop 'til you drop in more than 40 high profile fashion outlets in The Triangle, or discover the fresh new designers thriving in the Northern Quarter.

This may not be the reason you chose a Manchester hen do, but the city is a thriving hub of music and theatre performances. If you're lucky enough to plan your hen do on a date that coincides with a music show, you might visit the ginormous AO Arena, or the legendary O2 Ritz for a more intimate show. Alternatively, as ladies of luxury you may wish to find something a bit more relaxing and get your gladrags on for a theatre show at The Palace Theatre, or Manchester Opera House.

Where are the best places to party in Manchester?

Manchester is the UK's second largest city, so you can expect an absolutely huge nightlife scene for your hen party to get involved with. The sheer choice of bars and clubs is overwhelming, so we'll give you a run down of the best areas to party.

Deansgate Locks

Built into converted arches with a rustic brick finish, Deansgate Lock has plenty of lively bars and nightclubs for a hen group. We'd recommend this area as a potential starting point for your big night out. It usually has a younger demographic of party goers so bear this in mind. Deansgate Locks has plenty of bars and nightclubs including Revolution, Lola Lo, Lock 91 and Beehouse.

Spinningfields is a must visit for the more sophisticated and 'classy' hen party groups visiting Manchester. It's located in Deansgate and is the perfect place to get glammed up in your best heels. Some of the high-end bars include The Alchemist, The Ivy, Boujee, and a sky bar called 20 Stories.

Northern Quarter

The Northern Quarter is a vibrant and lively area within Manchester. You'll find quirky underground dens including Lost in Tokyo and the Underground Tiki Bar, stylishly modern bars like Wilsons Social, and basement jazz clubs such as Matt & Phreds hosting all kinds of funk, soul and jazz. The Northern Quarter is great choice for all types of hen parties looking for a night out because of the variety of venues available.

1) Bottomless Drag Brunch

A rising favourite in the hen party activities is not just bottomless brunch, but bottomless brunch featuring the sassy queens! Dine and be dazzled all with a touch of your favourite alcoholic beverages.

2) Butlers in the Buff

Charming, courteous and semi-naked. Hire a couple of handsome hunks to serve up your dinner at your hen party accommodation. The perfect start to sizzling hen night out.

3) Bubble Mayhen

In true sporty fashion, one of the favourite hen do activities in Manchester is Bubble Mayhen. Climb inside a big zorb (bubble), and try to play a game of football. More often than not there won't be a lot of ball kicking, and more bouncing off of one another!

A lot of these lavish cocktails will have molecular magic unfold before your eyes.

2) The Botanist Bar

Situated in Deansgate, this sophisticated bar has antiques and trinkets hanging from the wall, and magical concoctions served by cocktail wizards . As an added bonus, there is live music every Friday and Saturday night too, perfect for some background music or a little boogie.

3) The Lawn Club

With an extensive cocktail selection and stunning pizza menu, The Lawn Club is a welcoming spot for some hen do deliciousness in the heart of the Spinningfields.

How to get around Manchester on your hen do

Being such a large and well established city, your travelling around Manchester on your hen do is going to be a breeze. One of the best ways to get around the city it to buy a travelcard and use the tram network. They're cheap and run frequently. When the evening hits and you need to get back home in the early hours of the morning to rest your weary heads, there are night buses, and Ubers.

If you're feeling a little adventurous during the day, a cooler and more active way to get around and see the city is to take advantage of Manchester's "rent a bike" scheme. You just need to download an app, sign up, and you'll be able to use these bikes which can be found dotted around the city. Note, you'll likely pay per minute for using these, but they're a fun way of getting in your tourist attractions if you have some time to spare on your hen party.
