About Hexwood Castle
The moment you arrive, you’ll feel the magic. The entrance hall is lined with wood panelling from the RMS Franconia – the very ship where Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin planned post-war Europe at the Yalta Conference in 1945.
Hexwood Castle offers seven beautifully appointed bedrooms – five within the historic castle and two in the charming Cottage – each named after Scottish mythical creatures. Every room features an illustration by artist Liz Crombie-Foulds, bringing these legends to life. The beds are designed for ultimate comfort with luxurious mattresses, while the duvets and pillows are crafted from recycled plastic bottles to minimize environmental impact.
The medieval kitchen, with its vast stone fireplace, looks like something from a historical epic, while the Chinese Room—inspired by Brighton’s Royal Pavilion—is an artistic marvel, with dragon lanterns and hand-painted panels. Every corner has a tale to tell.
Whether you’re cooking up a storm in the modern kitchen (equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, and a bean-to-cup coffee machine) or dining in style in the French Empire-style dining room, every meal at Hexwood Castle is an occasion.
The dining room’s stunning marble and ormolu fireplace was salvaged from the SS L’Atlantique, a legendary 1930s ocean liner. Throw a banquet or cocktail party – this space is made for memorable moments.
From grand feasts to fireside storytelling, there’s no shortage of ways to unwind.

Booking Information
To secure your booking at Hexwood Castle, you will need to pay a small deposit. The remaining final balance will be due 8 weeks before your booking date.

Please note there is a mandatory security deposit due 1 week prior to your check-in.
What is a security deposit and how does it work?
A security deposit is a good behaviour bond that is ring-fenced in your account on the week that you check-in. The security deposit is to encourage guests to keep the property clean and tidy and leave it as it is found. It’s also to deter any damages or noise complaints.
Providing there are no damages or complaints, the funds ring-fenced in your account will be automatically released back to you 7-10 days after check-out. You will be sent further information regarding the security deposit post-booking.

The Castle – There are 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the second floor in the main house, sleeps up to 17 people:
- Ashray: Main suite with king size four poster bed; walk in wardrobe; fireplace; working shutters; large en-suite bathroom painted with Kandinsky-style murals; large jacuzzi bath; shower (sleeps 2)
- NicNevin: large bedroom decorated with William Morris wallpaper in Arts and Crafts style; king size bed; working shutters; en-suite bathroom: black and white-tiled, with bath and shower (sleeps 2)
- Ghillie Dhu: large bedroom; king size four poster bed; working shutters (sleeps 2)
- Shared shower room: travertine tiled shower room
- Selkie: king size bed; working shutters (sleeps 2)
- Brownie: king size bed at ground level; platform with single and king size beds; working shutters (sleeps 5)
The Cottage – There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the first floor of the cottage, sleeps up to 4 people:
- Unicorn: king size bed; mullioned window overlooking the garden (sleeps 2)
- Wulver: king size bed; bright, cosy (sleeps 2)
- Shared bathroom: shower room
