The perfect excuse to go shopping!?

It’s just been reported that Kate Middleton has been out shopping in high street stores for dresses to pack for her honeymoon. We all know that girls tend to over-pack their suitcase for every occasion, but it’s unlikely Kate is having to worry too much about how heavy her case is to carry!

However, it did get us thinking that there’s often a dilemma as to what to pack if you’re going on a hen weekend.

What will be in your suitcase will depend on the activities you’re going to do over the weekend. If you’re doing anything outdoors, then it’s best to pack a change of clothes for the day. For the evenings, you’ll want your best ‘going out’ outfits. The organiser might also suggest a theme for all or part of the weekend so you might have to be a bit creative, but it’s a good excuse to go shopping to buy something new.

If you’re the bride-to-be, it might be a bit harder to work out what to pack as the organiser is likely to try to keep some of the weekend activities a secret from you. So you’ll have to pack for a variety of occasions.

It’s the perfect excuse to pack all your shoes – flats, flip flops, trainers, high heels…! Just bear in mind that you’ll have to carry your case at some point, especially if you’re going to your hen location by train or plane.

Although you might have visions of wearing your favourite outfit, be prepared for the fact that your girlfriends might have other ideas and may have an outfit and/or accessories for you to wear!

Here’s a quick checklist of some essentials to pack:

          • Earplugs – you might be sharing a room with someone who snores.
          • Travel First Aid Kit – especially plasters for all those sore feet.
          • Camera and spare batteries – you’re going to want to capture the best bits of the weekend.
          • Suncream – you’ll all be hoping for a sunny weekend.
          • Waterproofs – just in case it’s not sunny, we do live in the UK after all.
          • Small pressie for the bride-to-be – as outrageous as you dare!
