          About Country Pursuits

With Liverpool, Manchester and Chester close by we are the perfect venue for any event whether it be a stag or hen do or a corporate event.

          HOVERCRAFTING EXPERIENCES

Our Manchester/Liverpool site is the largest for hovercrafts in the UK, with a fleet of 10 hovers with 2 race tracks over land and water for an unrivalled experience. Hovercrafting is not as straight forward as it might seem. With characteristics that resemble boats, planes and supermarket trolleys, flying these machines is an acquired skill. We aim to teach you these skills quickly and safely so when you have finished with us (or we have finished with you) you will feel that as well as having a great time, you will have acquired some new skills.

          MUD BUGGY EXPERIENCE DAYS

Fancy getting totally wet and muddy or maybe your just after an adrenaline rush, our buggy activities are for you!

OFF ROAD KARTING / GRASS KARTING

Capable of speeds of up to 40kph – if it rains on this track, it can be real tricky to control.

These single seat Buggies/Karts, unlike our Mud Buggies it’s a simple rev and go, which makes it easy to get to grips with. But don’t be fooled these pocket rockets will get you in a spin.

Off road karting, is fast in the dry and when its damp and muddy then these off road karts really come alive. We have a 4 acre race track with lumps bumps chicanes and drifting bends to really test your skills.

          AXE THROWING

Learn how to throw guided by our axe experts (axperts). We’ll show you how satisfying it is, with a little practice, to stick a Tomahawk or Axe into the log targets and with a bit of skill – hit the bullseye. You will be itching to buy your own axes!

          DTV SHREDDERS

The DTV shredder looks like Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. Designed by Canadian inventors, Ben Gulak and Ryan Fairchild at BPG Werks. They have taken a tank & jetski and fused them together to create a very stable off road machine that glides over almost any surface.  A combination of tank, skateboard and motocross bike, it is almost certainly the first year-round, all-terrain vehicle.  It has two aggressive tank treads, a skateboard deck and a powerful 4-stroke 196cc engine, capable of travelling through sand and snow trails and even mountainsides at high speed.

Riding a Shredder is quite exhausting. It is rather like learning to snowboard. As you’re standing up and rocking left and right, you end up using a lot of energy, the more aggressive the ride, the more physical it becomes. While snowboarding takes some time to get to grips with the Shredder is very intuitive and once you have grasped how to use the throttle and deck we will have you gliding around within a few minutes.  Riding the DTV Shredder is surprisingly intuitive and very similar to riding a jet ski. Give it some throttle and it smoothly starts rolling, but lean to the left and it glides to the left, lean to the right….. The key thing to remember is that just like a jet ski you must make sure you give it throttle, otherwise it will not turn.

          ARCHERY/CROSSBOWS

Archery Tag / Archery Combat is a group based game also known as archery combat. It is played very much like dodgeball with two teams shooting it out. The arrows are foam capped so it doesn’t hurt. If you shoot someone from the opposite team they go out of the game. If you shoot a spot from a target board then you can get team members who are out, back in the game.  If you catch an arrow from the opposing team then the shooter goes out and a member of your team who is ‘out’ comes back into the game.  It’s fast and lively and satisfying to hit someone and be on the winning side

You need a minimum of 8 people to play Archey Tag and as it involves hitting other people we don’t allow people who don’t know each other to do it, so it’s closed groups only.

Tradititional Archery is all about developing your skills. We start with familiarising you with bows, arrows and the range. Then you’ll move on to firing and developing the technique to aim. We usually run this with small groups so there is a competition with a number of rounds.  We use a bare bow which means it hasn’t got all the bells and whistles of an Olympic Archer.  We concentrate on developing a base skill and an understanding of the raw techniques of aiming and firing.  Ideally run for up to 8 people.

Crossbows are trigger operated device so it is easier to be more accurate with it, this is the main reason it was developed. There is less skill involved and therefore Crossbow soldiers could be trained far quicker than archers.  We’ll ensure we you have a fun day learning how the crossbow works, and hone your skills throughout the session, which is ideally run with groups of about 8.  This session is run in the indoor range.

          SHOOTING RANGE

The range forms part of The Fort Wild Target Sports Comples where we run a number of different target sports including Crossbows, Archery and Axe throwing as well as Air Pistols, Air rifles and our very own Live Fire .22 Rimfire Range. Our NSRA Certified range has great facilities with 25 covered air rifle firing points and 5 Live fire lanes. Whether the intention is to come on your own or as a group these facilities make this a superb outdoor shooting range.

Brand new for Summer 2019 our Gallery Shoot is open to provide LIVE FIRING .22 RIMFIRE experiences.

We have a variety of air rifles and pistols to train on. If you are coming for the real guns, then we have a good selection of semi-automatic and bolt action sport guns. Our friendly and experienced Range Officers will coach you through safety and handling so that you get the very best experience.
