          Epsom Derby

Horse racing is a great way to spend an afternoon, combining lots of fun for groups with nerve-wracking anticipation as you cheer on your horse to the finish line. The next big occasion in the racing calendar takes place at Epsom Downs Racecourse over the next couple of days, with the highlight of The Derby on Saturday.

The Derby held at Epsom Downs Racecourse can be traced back to its origins in 1780 and is still ranked as the world’s greatest flat race.

Internationally, 140 other countries now hold a sporting ‘Derby’, but, Epsom still remains ‘The Home of The Derby’. It also has the biggest prize money in UK racing, so there’s a lot at stake for the owners, trainers and jockeys.

The race boasts an unrivalled roll of honour, from legendary names such as Seabird, Nijinsky, Mill Reef and Shergar, right up to last years winner, Workforce.

Today is Ladies Day, where they’ll be lots of attention on how well turned out the race-goers are as well as on the actual horses themselves!

          Have a winning weekend!

There are loads of race days throughout the year so if you fancy a flutter, Adventure Connections can arrange for you to go horse-racing as part of your hen weekend. Call us now on 08450 251 251
