Luxury Self Catering Detached Georgian House for hire in Bath
Looking for self catering accommodation in Bath?
Stay in this luxurious listed detached Georgian house in the centre of Bath.
The house has been restored to its former grandeur and offers self catering accommodation for up to 14 guests in 5 twin and 2 double bedrooms.
The House
This is a rare property as it is one of only a handful of houses with a front garden in the centre of Bath. The entrance hall leads into an unusual feature - the "chairman's turret" - which has an original wide, carpeted, stone staircase that was designed for taking people to the Roman Baths in a sedan chair straight from their rooms.
A beautiful balcony dominates the top part of the house above a winding staircase leading to the two upper bedrooms. On a bright sunny day the light elegantly streams through the house from both a wall and ceiling window.
Main Dining Room
The tastefully decorated dining room has two dining tables with seating for twelve, period chandeliers and an exquisite Regency fireplace. There is even a secret entrance to a shower/toilet room behind a hidden door!
Main Kitchen
This long and well-lit kitchen was the centre of activity for cooks employed in the past. It offers an excellent outlook over the period properties surrounding the house. The kitchen is tastefully decorated and fitted throughout with solid beech work tops and a refurbished oak floor. The working Aga contributes an authentically country house feel to the kitchen, which also has a dishwasher, fridge freezer and cutlery and tableware settings for 14.
Library
This is a very relaxing room with period furniture and fittings including comfy leather chairs and a marble fireplace.
Sitting Room
This large, comfortable room stretches the entire width of the house. It has three generous sofas, a splendid antique coffee table and for your more modern requirements, a large TV with Sky multi-channel services. The focal point is certainly the grand marble fireplace. The perfect place to have drinks with a party of friends. The sitting room has four full length windows which look out over the attractive period houses for which Bath is so famous. Appropriately, grand sparkling chandeliers light up your evenings and add to the sense of history.
Second Kitchen/Breakfast Room
This second kitchen diner is less formal than the main kitchen with a table that seats six. It is well equipped with a modern electric hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave and has views of St Margret's church at the back of the house. This kitchen is ideal for informal breakfasts or late night snacks being just a short struggle from the bedrooms!
The Bedrooms
Back Bedroom 1
This twin-bedded room has a cosy, tranquil ambience. It is tastefully furnished and close to the main kitchen if you get those midnight munchies!
Back Bedroom 2
In the past this was the music room, constructed with an interestingly curved ceiling to improve the acoustics. Recently renovated and fully furnished it now has a twin beds which are framed between two windows and a period marble fireplace.
Back Bedroom 3
This beautiful room easily accomodates two single beds. The room has two large windows that frame the beds and provide views of the surrounding period properties.
Front Bedroom 1
This spacious double room has quaint picture windows with views of the period properties aound the house. This room has a noticeably downward sloping floor, a rather quirky feature common to many old properties. This is caused by the natural settling process of the area over about 300 years and contributes to the period charm of the room.
Front Bedroom 2
This twin-bedded room is smaller than bedroom 1 but very comfortable and tastefully decorated. It enjoys warm light and pleasant views over The Paragon.
Top Floor Bedrooms
There are two rooms on the top floor which complement each other and both enjoy natural light and excellent views over the green slopes of Bathampton Down and Solisbury Hill. One room has warm, colourful accents and the other has natural, organic tones. Both have double beds, chests of drawers and comfortable chairs.
The Bathrooms
All the bathrooms in the house are light and spacious and have limestone floors with basins, toilets and mirror showers.
