Love Across The Globe

Published on Feb 8, 2016

Romance-around-the-globeThe top romantic locations in the world

As Valentine’s Day approaches we’re looking at how love differs across the planet, and what are considered the most romantic locations and events that this year has to offer. Here you’ll also find a few different ways to say I love you. (That’ll stick the cherry on your next romantic trip!) Remember to leave this page open for your partner to stumble upon!

Venice, Italy – Ti amo

The sinking city of water has been a romantic hotspot for decades. The hustle and bustle of the main streets can be switched off simply by taking a turn off the tourist path and then you can lose yourself within the culture of the towering houses and quirky mask and morano glass shops. Outstanding restaurants and beautiful gondola rides (starting from 90 euros) make for the top romantic location.

Paris, France – Je vous aime

Another obvious one but it can’t be left off the list. The city of love has earnt its name through the stunning walks alongside the Seine, the beautiful 360 view from the top of the Eiffel tower (and the not-so-romantic queue) and the overwhelming amount of hotels, modern art and historic monuments that make this city ooze culture.

Istanbul, Turkey – seni seviyorum

Istanbul regularly gets overlooked when lovers are looking for romantic locations. If you are looking for a slightly different vibe then Istanbul is the ideal break. Sunset cruises and romantic strolls across the water edge idolises the decorative mosques and Turkish skyline. The city also has hundreds of fantastic sea-food restaurants, perfect for proposals…

Greek Islands – S’ayapo

Now Greece is probably not the first destination that comes to mind when you think of romantic getaways in 2015, but if you are looking for a bargain and a stunning setting then you would definitely be missing out if you didn’t consider at least one of 6000 Greek islands. If you are looking for history then Crete or Corfu will be your best bet, Mykonos and Rhodes are considered the party islands. If  you are looking for something a little more isolated and filled with more locals than tourists then the Aeginic islands are fabulous!

Rio Dejaneiro, Brazil – Eu Amo-te

South America is another absolutely stunning romantic location! White sandy beaches, historic monuments and  festival-vibes are what you have to look forward to. The 2014 Fifa World Cup portrayed a lot of what Brazil has to offer – the smiles from the locals will even make your trip one to remember!

New York, North America – I love you “my place or yours”

The city of dreams at winter warms the heart (or freezes it, I’m not too sure…). The view from the empire state building is breath taking, and the shopping centres are legendary. Theatres, beautiful botanic gardens and the iconic statue of liberty, everything about the big apple is buzzing with excitement. The perfect romantic location for any city-couple!

Bora Bora, South Pacific Islands – Ua here vau ia oe (Tahitian)

Quickly becoming the honeymoon hotspot of the world, Bora Bora is located at the bottom of South East Asia and if you don’t know much about the island, think beach bungalows extending into the ocean, picturesque sunset sailing and stunning walking trails. Need I say more?
