Site seeing tour for the visually impaired!

Inspirational
We have to share this with you…the below is a review from a fab service for the visually blind – they wanted a ‘site seeing tour’ of the coast! The review…
“I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much we enjoyed our boat trip last Tuesday. When I saw the choppy waves when we arrived at lunch time, I did think that perhaps our trip would be canceled, but our boat turned up on time!
Obviously with such large waves, it was quite a challenge to get our visually impaired members on board safely, as some also had mobility problems.
I have to complete a risk assessment before each trip. I don’t think the numbers on my form go up high enough to reflect how dangerous it was!
However, luckily for us, the crew were absolutely marvelous. They showed great compassion, were very helpful and friendly and ensured that everyone got on board safely (despite the gangplank acting like a seesaw) and made everyone comfortable.
The children considered it a great adventure, loved the rocking boat, the spray from the sea and said it was better than a theme park ride! Please kindly pass our grateful thanks to the crew who helped make it such a success.”
By all reason this event should not have gone so well, after all who would have thought of a site seeing tour on a boat for visually impaired people would work – just goes to show where there’s a will there’s always a way – and we will always strive to help! We hope by publishing this review it will inspire others to have a go at ‘whatever takes their fancy’!
