London Polo School, Fun Polo Introduction Lessons and Games

Polo Introductory Lessons

The Polo lesson takes you through all the basic components of the game to give you an all round picture and understanding of the sport.

You will spend time learning the rules and tactics of the Polo game by watching a demonstration by your instructor using a board with miniature horses and players.

You will then stand on an elevated platform with a shortened polo mallet and be taught the polo swing and the four basic shots of the game. It will then be time to get onto your horse and learn how to ride a polo pony. Finally you will put it all together by doing some stick and ball, (riding your horse and hitting a ball in solo practice.)

Following the Polo Introductory Lesson you have the opportunity to progress to playing Instructional chukkas - where you can enjoy playing competitive polo and enlarge upon what you have already learnt - ball skills and understanding of the rules.

This Polo lesson is a great fun that anyone can do regardless of riding experience. All the participants learn the skill of hitting a ball whilst on a horse and also polo riding, which is different to the English style of riding.

Fun Polo Riding School

Therefore, we find that accomplished riders in other disciplines are able to mix with non-riders and learn at a similar pace. The benefit, of course, of having riding experience, is that you have more confidence on horseback, therefore we mount participants on horses to suit their ability - beginners on easy, quiet horses and riders on the more advanced horses.

We provide all polo equipment, including helmets and chaps, but please bring your own (regardless of style) if you have them to ensure best fit. We recommend suitable outdoor shoes with a small heel (no trainers) but, again, bring you own riding boots if you have them.

Serious fun takes serious planning!
