Stand-up Paddleboarding in London
Paddleboarding tuition
Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) has evolved from an ancient form of surfing and is great fun!
Paddleboarding involves standing on a wide, long board and propelling yourself through the water using a long blade. As it is a low impact sport, it is much easier to learn than surfing and therefore anyone can give it a go!
You can try paddleboarding in London and you'll get to see many waterside places in a new way and from a new angle.
Great group activity
Get a group of your friends together and you can all share the experience of being out on the water and learning something fresh and new together. The chances are that most of you group will have never seen SUP and its unlikely that any of them will have tried it.
A session will always start with some safety advice and show you how to paddle in a straight line with good technique. Then we will get you on the water with minimum delay so most coaching takes place on the river or canal. You will be shown how to kneel and stand properly on the board and how to turn effectively.
Once you've mastered the basics, you can play a few games on the boards! You can raft the boards up and try to change people over between boards while floating, or get 2 or 3 people on one board. We can also teach you racing turns which involve balancing on the back of the board and getting the front end up in the air. This is when the fun really begins but prepare to get wet!
