Clipper at Cowes Week
Cowes Sailing History
Cowes Week is one of the UK's longest running and most successful sporting events, it is a key event on the British sporting calendar, one which is steeped in history. Cowes week began in 1826 with just seven yachts competing for a Gold Cup which held a value of £100.
Since 1826 Cowes week has evolved year-on-year and is now the largest sailing regatta in the world with up to 40 daily races for over 1,000 boats competing. The regatta attracts approximately 8,500 competitors from professional sailors to weekend enthusiasts and has become a popular sporting event attracting the world's media attention.
Cowes Week is not only a must for the sailing competitors, it has become a hugely popular event with more than 100,000 spectators coming to watch the sailing, enjoy the parties and live entertainment, and to experience the unique atmosphere. It is genuinely a one-of-a-kind event.
In 2011, Cowes Week will start on Saturday 6 August with eight days of racing and shore-side entertainment culminating with the spectacular fireworks being held on the Friday 12 August.

If you do not have the time for a whole day on the water, why not charter a yacht for the fireworks display on Friday 12 August? Cowes fireworks are a spectacular affair not to be missed. The display is typically half an hour long during which on average six tonnes of fireworks will be released.

The Clipper 60s
The Clipper 60s have the classic look of the traditional ocean racing thoroughbred. They were specially built in England by Colvic Craft to sail around the world with a crew of 15.
At 60-foot from bow to stern they have been designed to balance speed with sea kindliness, a magic alliance which brings security and great enjoyment to the crews on board. Designed by Pederick, a prominent and progressive leader in yacht design, the yachts also perform well in light winds.
The original fleet of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and with four circumnavigations under their hulls, the Clipper 60s are now used to train our Clipper Race crews.
They are also popular for corporate events, training and adventure sailing weekends as they are a perfect vessel for an introduction into big boat sailing.
